Best tools to prevent item-not-received chargebacks in 2026

September 24, 2026
VerifiedVerified & Reviewed
Twelve tools scored out of 60 on six published criteria, for one job: stopping the item-not-received chargeback that starts as a stalled parcel. Keeyu ranks first at 50, ahead of ClickPost, parcelLab and Narvar, and this page is published by Keeyu, so the losses are printed too: ClickPost, parcelLab, Narvar, Chargeflow, Signifyd, Justt and Chargeback.io all beat Keeyu on running unattended, and Keeyu does not fight a dispute once it is filed. The eight dispute vendors work after the shopper calls the bank; Keeyu works before. Every order is a promise. Keeyu keeps the promise.

How this list is ranked

Six criteria, 10 points each, the same rubric on every comparison page Keeyu publishes, never reweighted or reordered. Keeyu loses one of them to seven vendors on this page.

Criterion

What you can check

1

Detection source

Operational data, such as carrier scans, the OMS or the payment record, or only a customer's complaint, to you or to their bank?

2

Detects the event that did not happen

A scan that never arrived, an order that never shipped, against a published numeric threshold.

3

Acts on the order, not the message

Refund, reship, replace, cancel, stop a shipment, file a carrier claim. Not a drafted reply.

4

Runs without an agent touching it

Documented unattended resolution, not a suggested action waiting for a person.

5

Reaches the customer before they contact you

Fires on detection. A chargeback is a contact routed through the bank, so anything that starts after it does not count.

6

Documented time from event to resolution

A published number, or a documented workflow with a clock on it.

A dispute and a pre-dispute alert are both events that did happen: the shopper has already asked their bank for the money back.

Under Regulation Z, goods "not delivered to the consumer or the consumer's designee as agreed" are a billing error the card issuer must resolve (12 CFR 1026.13), so prevention has to happen before that call.

4 cells tie Keeyu without beating it: 1 on criterion 2, the event that did not happen; 2 on criterion 5, reaching the customer first, and 1 on criterion 6, time to resolution.

1. Keeyu

50 / 60. Proactive e-commerce operations, the system of action for e-commerce: it watches payment, fulfillment, shipping and returns data and acts on the order whose promise has broken. It is not a chargeback service, in its own words, and files no representment.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

9

Payment, fulfillment, shipping and returns monitored in real time, across storefront, ERP, WMS, carrier and payment gateway. Its pricing page lists "Payment Monitoring (Fraud, Chargebacks)". Not 10, because no monitoring cadence is published on keeyu.com.

2. Missed event

9

Published thresholds: "Detect no movement for 24 to 48 hours", no scan within 48 hours, unshipped past cutoff. Not 10, because no expected-hop model is published, so the classes read as a fixed list.

3. Order action

9

"So we detect it, cancel the original in Shopify, raise a new order on express, push it to the warehouse, notify the customer, and file the carrier claim." Not 10, because split shipments are not documented and the action evidence sits in the blog rather than product documentation.

4. Unattended

7

"Proactive doesn't mean unattended: your team approves the plays, the system runs them." Keeyu's weakest criterion, tied with criterion 6, and seven vendors on this page beat it.

5. Customer first

9

Fires on detection with a resolving choice: wait with a discount, swap, or refund. Held at 9 because the product page frames its alerts as internal, to ops and CX teams, contradicting the blog.

6. Resolution time

7

A before-and-after resolution clock on a named customer's out-of-stock workflow, marked down one point because the figure appears at two scopes on Keeyu's own site. Chargeflow ties it.

Where it wins

Before the dispute exists. Of four tools here that watch the parcel, only Keeyu scores 9 on acting on the order, reshipping or refunding while the shopper still waits. Its own blog, on a late order: "It's a dispute the brand can lose."

Where it loses

Everything after the dispute is filed. Keeyu does not answer pre-dispute alerts, build representment evidence, reimburse a lost chargeback or manage a chargeback ratio. Friendly fraud, where the parcel arrived and the shopper disputes anyway, is outside its reach.

Buy it if

Buy Keeyu if your item-not-received disputes trace back to parcels that stalled for days unnoticed.

2. ClickPost

45 / 60. A carrier control tower across 600+ carriers that chases stuck pickups and failed deliveries.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

8

One API across 600+ carriers, forward, reverse and RTO. Not higher: no payment, inventory or storefront monitoring.

2. Missed event

9

Ties Keeyu. Pickups unscanned over 4 hours get a carrier follow-up, then a re-book if unresolved in 30 minutes. Not 10: shown in an illustrated dashboard mockup with sample data, not a specification.

3. Order action

7

Backup pickup slots and rerouting to safer carriers. Not higher: no refund, reship or cancel.

4. Unattended

8

A published automation rate for failed deliveries, and "An alert isn't the end of the work. It sets corrective actions in motion." Not higher: no customer base behind the rate.

5. Customer first

8

Instant delay and address alerts by WhatsApp, SMS, email and call. Not higher: a notice, not an offer.

6. Resolution time

5

Under 40 minutes on average for failed deliveries, 6.4 seconds on agentic support. Held at 5: no named customer or window.

Where it beats Keeyu

Criterion 4, at 8 against 7, with no approval step. It ties Keeyu on criterion 2.

Where it loses

Criterion 3: its fixes stop at the shipment. It documents no chargeback outcome.

Buy it if

Buy ClickPost if your lost parcels start as a missed pickup at the carrier.

3. parcelLab

43 / 60. An enterprise post-purchase platform that predicts a late parcel and warns the shopper first.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

8

Order data by API plus carrier data, with machine learning over carrier performance. Not higher: no inventory, payment or WMS monitoring.

2. Missed event

8

Dispatch lead time, missing checkpoints, and a trending-late model it says catches 90% of delayed shipments. Not higher: the checkpoint check is a diagnostic, not a standing rule.

3. Order action

7

Carrier claim cases, exchanges, store credit and return routing. Not higher: no refund, reship or cancel on a broken outbound delivery.

4. Unattended

9

A published 81% no-human-touch resolution rate. Not 10: it comes from a two-week, single-retailer pilot, and the merchant sets the autonomy level.

5. Customer first

9

Ties Keeyu. Outbound fires on a predicted delay by email, SMS and chatbot. Not 10: information, not an offer.

6. Resolution time

2

"25% Faster claims resolution" is relative: no clock, baseline or named customer.

Where it beats Keeyu

Criterion 4, at 9 against 7. It ties Keeyu on criterion 5.

Where it loses

A stalled outbound parcel gets a warning, not a fix, and it documents no chargeback outcome.

Buy it if

Buy parcelLab if an early delay warning is enough to keep shoppers from calling the bank.

4. Narvar

42 / 60. The enterprise post-purchase incumbent, which now documents refunds and replacements on a delivery issue.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

8

1,000+ carriers and 50+ commerce and order systems, including OMS, WMS and 3PL. Not higher: no payment or inventory monitoring.

2. Missed event

7

Narvar Promise moves the delivery date when carriers slip, and IRIS flags at-risk shipments. Not higher: no named threshold or missing-scan rule.

3. Order action

8

Instant claim approval with replacements pushed into five named helpdesks and CRMs, and instant refunds at first scan. Not higher: no 3PL write-back or carrier claim.

4. Unattended

8

Resolves the inquiry "automatically, without manual intervention." Not higher: no published rate, and the agentic layer launched in January 2026.

5. Customer first

9

Ties Keeyu. "Proactively address delivery issues before shoppers experience them," with a reorder or refund. Not 10: delivery triggers only.

6. Resolution time

2

No number. "Minutes, not days" is a comparison, stated three inconsistent ways on its own pages.

Where it beats Keeyu

Criterion 4, at 8 against 7, on resolution it documents as automatic. It ties Keeyu on criterion 5.

Where it loses

No resolution clock, no carrier claim, and no documented chargeback outcome.

Buy it if

Buy Narvar if it already runs your tracking and returns and should settle delivery claims too.

5. Chargeflow

31 / 60. The strongest dispute platform on this page: alerts, order-time fraud screening and fully automated representment, priced on success.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

6

Payment data from 100+ processors plus order-time risk scoring. Not higher: its dispute feed and Verifi and Ethoca alerts start with a cardholder complaint, and no carrier stream is watched.

2. Missed event

1

Shipping data is collected as evidence after a dispute arrives, not monitored for a stall.

3. Order action

7

Refunds on alerts, and "Stop shipping orders likely to be disputed", plus representment. Not higher: no reship, replace or carrier claim is documented.

4. Unattended

9

"Chargeflow automates chargebacks and inquiries end-to-end, freeing you to focus on what matters." Not 10, because an optional delay for internal review is offered.

5. Customer first

1

Customer communications feed the evidence file; nothing is sent to the shopper on detection.

6. Resolution time

7

A named-customer clock: Elementor went from "20 to 30 minutes per dispute down to under 1 minute". Not higher: that is handling time; the card network decides far later.

Where it beats Keeyu

Criterion 4, at 9 against 7: representment and inquiries run end to end with no approval step. It ties Keeyu on criterion 6.

Buy it if

Buy Chargeflow if disputes are already arriving and you want them recovered without a person touching each one.

6. Signifyd

29 / 60. A fraud and chargeback guarantee that decides each order at checkout and reimburses eligible chargebacks on approved orders, item-not-received included.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

6

Every order is scored on transaction data before it ships. Not higher: a checkout risk judgment, with nothing watching the parcel after it leaves.

2. Missed event

1

No documented detection of a stalled or missing shipment.

3. Order action

7

"Approved orders are shipped automatically; fraudulent orders are canceled." Chargebacks on approved orders are reimbursed. Not higher: nothing is reshipped or replaced for the shopper.

4. Unattended

9

Chargebacks it deems abusive "are challenged automatically", and approval and shipping run without an analyst. Not 10, because a case console for reviewing orders is part of the product.

5. Customer first

1

The guarantee pays the merchant. The shopper hears nothing on detection.

6. Resolution time

5

A real-time clock on the checkout decision. Not higher: no clock from a delivery failure or dispute to reimbursement.

Where it beats Keeyu

Criterion 4, at 9 against 7. It also carries the financial risk: "If the dispute is unsuccessful, the merchant is still reimbursed." Keeyu offers nothing like that.

Buy it if

Buy Signifyd if you want item-not-received losses insured rather than prevented, and fraud screening in the same contract.

7. Justt

26 / 60. AI-built representment with alerts and configurable flows, for enterprise merchants.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

5

"Justt integrates Ethoca and Verifi alerts directly, with automated refund decisions you configure." Not higher: both begin with the cardholder's dispute.

2. Missed event

1

Every trigger is a dispute or an alert, both events that did happen.

3. Order action

7

Refunds on alerts, accepts chargebacks by rule, cancels subscriptions, fights the rest. Not higher: no fulfillment action is documented.

4. Unattended

9

Apple Pay and Google Pay dispute refunds are issued by policy without manual handling. Not 10, because the merchant sets the rules stage by stage.

5. Customer first

2

"Automatically respond to those customers to resolve issues at scale." Held at 2 because those customers have already disputed.

6. Resolution time

2

The headline claims are win rates, which are outcomes, not a clock.

Where it beats Keeyu

Criterion 4, at 9 against 7: refunds, acceptances and responses run on configured rules with no approval step.

Buy it if

Buy Justt for high dispute volume across several payment methods, with arguments built case by case.

8. ChargebackStop

25 / 60. Alerts, fraud reports and representment for merchants who sell physical goods and subscriptions, delivery disputes included, worked from the payment side.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

6

"We turn your payment, billing, and usage data into prevention & evidence", plus the TC40 and SAFE fraud reports. Not higher: a delivery dispute still starts with the cardholder's claim.

2. Missed event

1

Delivery confirmation and tracking appear only as dispute evidence.

3. Order action

6

Automatic refunds and subscription controls, plus representment. Not higher: no fulfillment action is documented.

4. Unattended

6

Alert handling and duplicate filtering are automated. Not higher: representment is not documented as unattended end to end.

5. Customer first

1

Its alerts fire "when a cardholder initiates a dispute with their bank", after the contact.

6. Resolution time

5

Documents the 24 to 72 hour refund window an alert opens. Not higher: the window is the card networks'.

Buy it if

Buy ChargebackStop for alerts and fraud reports in one feed at a lower price per alert.

9. Chargeblast

Tied 9th at 24 / 60. Alerts, deflection and recovery, with human review on every representment.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

5

"Get notified the moment a customer initiates a dispute - before it becomes an official chargeback." Not higher: the trigger is the customer's dispute.

2. Missed event

1

None documented.

3. Order action

6

"Smart automation issues refunds and resolves issues instantly to prevent escalation." Not higher: no fulfillment action is documented.

4. Unattended

6

Alert refunds run automatically, but "All evidence undergoes human review before submission."

5. Customer first

1

Starts with the shopper's dispute.

6. Resolution time

5

Documents the 24 to 48 hour alert window, which is the network's, not its own clock.

Buy it if

Buy Chargeblast if you want a person checking every evidence packet.

9. Chargeback.io

Tied 9th at 24 / 60. Alert-driven auto-refunds for merchants who would rather refund than fight.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

5

"As official partners of Ethoca and Verifi, we are able to detect incoming disputes and auto-refund them, ensuring complete prevention." Not higher: the trigger is the dispute.

2. Missed event

1

None documented.

3. Order action

6

Refunds the disputed transaction. Not higher: refund is the only documented action.

4. Unattended

8

Auto-refunds on matched alerts run "on autopilot". Not higher: the one automated action is a refund.

5. Customer first

1

Starts with the shopper's dispute.

6. Resolution time

3

The only published clock is setup, "in just about 2 minutes", not dispute to resolution.

Where it beats Keeyu

Criterion 4, at 8 against 7: the refund fires on a matched alert with no approval step.

Buy it if

Buy Chargeback.io to keep disputes off your ratio at the lowest effort.

11. Chargebacks911

22 / 60. Alerts plus a managed representment service run by its own team.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

5

"Merchants receive alerts of pending disputes 24-72 hours before they turn into chargebacks." Not higher: the trigger is the dispute.

2. Missed event

1

None documented.

3. Order action

6

Refund on alert, "simply by refunding the contested transaction before the chargeback is officially filed", plus representment. Not higher: no fulfillment action is documented.

4. Unattended

4

Representment is sold as a managed service run by people. Not higher: no unattended resolution is documented.

5. Customer first

1

Starts with the shopper's dispute.

6. Resolution time

5

Documents the 24 to 72 hour alert window, which belongs to the networks.

Buy it if

Buy Chargebacks911 if you want dispute strategy handed to an outside team.

12. Accertify

18 / 60. Representment inside a wider fraud platform, for large merchants with a dispute team.

Criterion

Score

Why

1. Detection source

5

Works from 60+ processor dispute feeds and uses "transaction, customer shipment, and fraud decision data". Not higher: the product starts from a filed chargeback.

2. Missed event

1

Shipment data is evidence, not a monitored stream.

3. Order action

4

Acts on the dispute with representment documents. Not higher: no refund, reship or cancel is documented.

4. Unattended

5

Automated response building cuts manual work, but the product is framed around a team working a queue.

5. Customer first

1

Everything starts with a filed chargeback.

6. Resolution time

2

Publishes outcomes, "more than 40% win rate on represented chargebacks", not a clock.

Buy it if

Buy Accertify if you already run its fraud management.

The vendors this list does not score

  • Fraud screening and payment providers, such as SEON, Stripe, Solidgate and Bolt, which decide whether to accept a payment and never watch the parcel.
  • Riskified, a chargeback guarantee on the Signifyd model; read the Signifyd section for that category.

The real decision: prevent the dispute, or recover from it

An item-not-received chargeback has two halves: a parcel that stopped moving while nobody at the brand noticed, and a shopper who gave up waiting and called their bank.

Ranks 5th to 12th work the second half, and Chargeflow, Signifyd and Justt run it with less human effort than Keeyu runs anything. Keeyu works only the first half, with ClickPost, parcelLab and Narvar, none of which documents a chargeback outcome.

So ask in a demo: when does the tool first know this order is in trouble? If the answer is "when the bank tells us", you are buying recovery. Many brands need both.

Recommendation

Keeyu ranks first because this list measures prevention. Check the losses first: seven rivals beat it on running unattended, and four cells tie it.

  • Buy Chargeflow, not Keeyu, to recover disputes already filed.
  • Buy Signifyd, not Keeyu, to insure item-not-received losses rather than prevent them.
  • Buy Justt, not Keeyu, for high-volume representment across many payment methods.
  • Buy parcelLab, not Keeyu, to warn shoppers of a predicted delay with no human touch.

Buy Keeyu for the parcel that stopped scanning four days ago. Proactive e-commerce operations is the system of action for that moment: detect the stall, act on the order, and tell the customer before the bank hears about it.

Every order is a promise. Keeyu keeps the promise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an item-not-received chargeback?

It is a card dispute in which the shopper tells their bank the goods never arrived. Regulation Z treats goods not delivered as agreed as a billing error the card issuer must resolve, so the bank reverses the charge and the merchant pays the fee and loses the sale unless it wins the dispute. Most of these disputes start as a parcel that stalled in transit while nobody at the brand noticed.

Can software prevent an item-not-received chargeback?

Two kinds of software claim to. Dispute vendors such as Chargeflow, Chargeblast and Chargebacks911 use Verifi and Ethoca alerts to refund the shopper after they contact their bank but before the chargeback is formally filed. Operations tools such as Keeyu watch the parcel itself and act when it stops moving, before the shopper contacts anyone. The first saves the chargeback fee; the second can save the order.

Does Keeyu fight chargebacks?

No. Keeyu files no representment, answers no pre-dispute alerts and reimburses no lost chargebacks; its own site says it is not a chargeback service. It detects the stalled or broken order, reships or refunds it, and tells the customer before they write in. Brands with a filed-dispute problem need a dispute vendor as well.

Which chargeback tool runs with the least human effort?

On published evidence, Chargeflow, Signifyd, Justt and parcelLab, each at 9 out of 10 on running unattended, followed by ClickPost, Narvar and Chargeback.io at 8. All seven beat Keeyu, which scores 7 because its own site says a team approves the plays before the system runs them.

What is the difference between chargeback prevention and chargeback recovery?

Recovery means answering a filed chargeback with evidence to win the money back, or being reimbursed by a guarantee provider such as Signifyd. Prevention means the dispute is never filed. Alert-based prevention still starts after the shopper has contacted their bank, while operational prevention starts when the order itself goes wrong.

Why do dispute vendors score low on this list?

Because the list is scoped to prevention, and two of its six criteria reward catching a problem before the customer contacts anyone. A dispute or a pre-dispute alert is that contact. The same six criteria apply to every vendor on every comparison page Keeyu publishes, and three dispute vendors share the top score on unattended operation with parcelLab.
